My continuation of the Trayvon Martin case

I am watching Pierce Morgan tonight and he has Mike Tyson on the show. He's asking him his opinion on the Trayvon case....Really - Mike Tyson - this is the guy that has a tatoo across his face...how much can he contribute to the cause??? Pierce asks him if thinks Zimmmerman should have been arrested that night and he says "Well, I don't know" ...with that lisp that he has. I was watching this and I was floored because I think he should have been arrested and then the investigation should have begun. Isn't that how it usually happens? You're arrested and then questions are asked. Mike Tyson sounded really uneducated on the facts that we know so far. I understand that we still do not know the entire facts but my problem with this whole situation is that there was not an immediate arrest. We all agree that someone is dead...possibly murdered but yet we are still wondering what really happened. Mike kept saying "I don't know" as Pierce kept asking questions about this case. I know that justice has not been served. I know that we still do not know all the facts. I know that a child is dead and a man is free. I also know that this man appears to be without scars or bruises but says that it was self-defense. I also know that at the end of the day...he was TOLD by a 911 operator to stop pursuit and let police handle it??? You tell me...What do you know??? Come on Mike - REALLY???

My opinion on the Trayvon Martin case

It saddened me when I first heard about this case.  I was unsure why no one in the police dept seemed to be more concerned about the facts behind - what I think was a senseless killing.  I am so gratified to see that the local community and communities from across the US have joined together to see that justice is served.  This child could have been mine or yours and his parents love him just as much as we love our children and they deserve to have the facts examined and Trayvon deserves fairness.  It's sad that in the year 2012 we still have to wonder if race truly plays a part in certain situations but I am convinced that these issuses are still alive and just as prominent today as it was in the 60's, during the civil rights movement.  I heard Martin Luther King, III. speak at the rally for Trayvon and today he must continue the fight for equality that his father started.  Now, I am not going state whether I think race is an issue in this case, I just know that certain people in government are being passive-agressive about the incidents that occurred on that day when this young man was found dead.    Regardless, everyone should be treated fairly.

Facebook OR Job?

I heard on the news this morning that more employers are starting to look at potential employees' Facebook pages to gather insight into the individual's personal life. This information could be very valuable to an employer and could potentially be the deciding factor as to whether an individual obtains that job or not. People have to be very careful when using these social media sites. You have to be selective about the information you post and also the people you allow to post on your sites. I choose not to have a Facebook page anymore simply because it's initial intended purposes are now being abused. It is no longer a way of connecting with old friends and colleagues, it has become an environment for people to air their dirty laundry. It's sickening some of the things people post. I don't necessarily agree with a potential employer choosing to look into your personal affairs to determine whether you are a fit for the company but I DO UNDERSTAND why they may feel this is necessary. So many people bring their bad attitudes and behavior into the workplace. Choosing to look at someone's facebook page or other social site could help prevent problems later on for an employer. I had a previous employer that was harassing a co-worker about the friends she had on her facebook page. It became so disturbing for this person that she chose to delete the account in fear that she could lose her job. I think facebook should be used for what it was intended to be used for and just like in our own personal lives, we should guard it carefully. We should not allow so many people into our personal space. The information you share on these sites allow people into your daily life and their influence could affect how other people see you. Remember, these sites have broken up relationships, caused people to lose their lives, and now could cost you that job!!! Think about it and decide if it's worth it.
